Jasmine got baptized on February 26, 2012. It was an amazing day! However, that is not where the story begins. The story begins a year before that when Jasmine began asking very in-depth questions about death and heaven and eternity. We were trying to take things slowly because she was only 4. She was very curious and desired to know more. We continued to teach her more for many months.
We read the Bible each night with our kids followed by a prayer time. On November 14, 2011 Jason was reading the Bible to Jasmine and Austin before bed. (She is now 5 years old.) He was reading the story of Adam and Eve. Jasmine began asking Jason detailed questions. She was questioning again things about heaven and being saved. This time was different. She continued asking for over 30 minutes about all kinds of details. There came a point when I joined them after puting Sammie to bed. It was a sweet time of butterflies and prayers for me as we asked her if she understood that Jesus died for our sins, then rose again, and that we have to accept the gift that he gives us, invite Him into our heart, and ask him to rule our life. Then we have eternity in Heaven. She understood and wanted to pray and ask Jesus into her heart. She became a Christian that night. My sister in Christ.
We held onto her story to watch and observe her. We wanted to see if she continued to ask about salvation. It was amazing. She KNEW that she had been saved that night. She told us she did not need to pray again because she was saved already. Great confirmation! :)
Fast forward 3 months...Jasmine was getting baptized!
It was a wonderful day of celebration and a wonderful opportunity for Jasmine to make it known to our church that she had put her faith in Jesus!

So glad Austin was there to see his big sister boldly proclaim:
"My name is Jasmine Spivey. Jesus is my Lord and I am not ashamed."
