Swimming Lessons

We took our first session of swimming lessons during the month of April. We went on T/Th from 7:30 - 8:00pm in an indoor pool. There were 6 sessions total. We all had a really good time. There were several classes all at different levels going on at one time in the same pool. It was a little chaotic, but I think the whole family loved it.

Austin's group was a parent-and-me class. We had a good time in there. There were some kids who were barely 1 and then some who were older 2.5-year-olds. By the 6th session, Austin was doing really great. He learned to "kick & pull" as I held onto his waist, he learned to spider crawl across the wall, he could climb out, humpty dumpty, jump in, kangaroo jump, and go under water while holding his breath. :) I was very proud of him!

We are trying to kick and use our hands at the same time.

He just climbed out by himself.

Jasmine was in the beginner class with about 4 other kids. We always had someone there watching her...either me or Jason or Nana. She started out very timid. The first lesson she cried 2 or 3 times during class. By the 6th lesson...she was doing great! She was putting her face under water, jumping out to the teacher, splashing around, floating on her back, climbing up and down the steps, and really doing well on her arms and legs with "swimming". She's very close to doing it herself according to her teacher. We were so proud of her!!!

Floating on her back with no assistance!!

Swimming with her head up...

Swimming with her head down - Yes!!

Proud little girl!
We finished each night with a Braum's Jr. shake! A great time!
